My Month Off
It's been a looooong time since I've blogged, as some of you have made me aware! But i'm not going to apologise for that. I'm allowed some time off and most of the time I was in a field in Somerset without the internet anyway so I couldn't let you all know the crazy events.
The end of my time in America was awesome. Saying goodbye to everyone was very tough and yes there were tears. They just couldn't say goodbye to me without getting emotional. And yes... I cried too, but only cos I had something in my eye! Honest! I had the ingenious idea of getting an England flag signed by everyone and that is now proudly on my wall at home so that I can remember everyone. I also have about 300 photos on my computer which I look at quite often. I miss the people from Lake Champion a lot. You guys are awesome. The initial time after coming back from the US was weird. I had 3 days off before going down to Soul Survivor with Taf and in that time I saw Danny boy (my nephew), which was great, I went to watch AFC Wimbledon, and I then spent a couple of days with Taf getting ready for SS.
Soul Survivor came upon us quickly. It was great. Taf and I chillin a lot, running the football, being Sports Team legends and getting to know people. It was great seeing some old friends and seeing familiar faces from the football tournament. I really love doing Sports Team down at Soul Survivor and want to be there for the next few years at least. That was my fourth year on Sports Team and my sixth actually time serving on the Sports Team. We had a smaller team (11) for Week A and Barry was in charge overall. Only 8,000 people there for Week A, but we had a good week.
WYLD Life Camp for Young Life then happened in Kidderminster. We took 16 kids with us from Hertford and joined up with YL from Ireland and Surrey. A great time was had by all and the kids seemed to get a lot out of it. From here I went straight back down to Soul Survivor for the last 48 hours of Momentum/PFYN (the week in between weeks A and B). Quite a few people from St Albans were there so it was great to hang out with them for a bit. I also was processing Sports Team applications and doing interviews for the full day and we managed to increase the Sports Team from 12 to 21 for Week B which was great. Week B was the biggest week we've ever had with over 10,500 people. The football tournament was brilliantly organised again, it was hugely busy but all the games got played in good time.
Since Soul Survivor I have been sorting out my living arrangements for the next academic year. It has concluded with me moving into a house this Monday in Hatfield. Much closer to work, closer to the big St A, cheaper to both work and mates and all round gravy! I will let you know how that goes. Soon I will update people on the 9 targets for the year and also some silly stuff. Keep reading!
