Asda - a convert?!

Some of you from my previous life back in Ware will know of my love for Tesco. It was the only supermarket in my town and myself, H, and Mr Big spent all our days there having such a good time. But Asda is now closer to my house and just as good for value if not better. But check this out... I was carrying my laptop with me after an Asda small shop, so I decided to walk my trolley all the way to the edge of the car park so that it was less distance for me to carry the bags. Just as I got to the edge of the car park the wheels locked and would not move. A device attached to the trolley had been set off so that I would not take the trolley outside of the car park. How flippin awesome is that?!!? I was well impressed! That'll stop the little ones dumping them in rivers.

Talking of Asda again, Mummy had given me some money to get myself a bedsheet for my bed. Since moving to Hatfield I have had a double bed (which I yoinked from Emily's room before she got here, hehe) but have only had a single duvet and mixed covers for the pillows. So I decided to splash out a bit and i bought a double plain red bedsheet, a new double duvet, and a matching duvet and pillow cover set in a red snazzy design. It is quality!!! I love it so much. The first night was so great that I missed my alarm for work and ended up having to get a taxi for £19, OUCH! I did wonder whether getting a double bed and duvet and sheets was an investment for married life... one to ponder!

And here's another to ponder for you theologians... if you believe in predestination and you believe that God has predestined you to be a follower and therefore go to heaven, then surely that means that God has also predestined people not to go to heaven, i.e. hell.

An interesting one for you to think about while you sip on your Guanabana's! Night x

First ever hat-trick!!

Today was awesome. The Feds were playing against Caius IV in a friendly which may turn into a league game if another fixture cannot be arranged later in the year. We had a squad of 15, with Colonel returning from injury. This meant that 6 of us CYMers in the squad and boy did it show! We were 5-0 at half time. Colonel scoring a peach of a goal and then setting me free for the second. Giles and Farmer scored a goal a piece and Ben (the manager) scored. Colonel then went in goal but we still kicked butt. I scored quickly after the break with an cool finish and then scored one of my best goals ever. 25 yards out I spotted the keeper slightly off his line. I curled the ball over his head to give myself a first ever hat-trick! The goals kept coming with David, Fuller and Giles scoring. I got a fourth late on with a 20 yard strike which the keeper should have saved. But it counted and takes my tally for the season to 6 in just 2 games. Im in dreamland. A seriously great team performance from the Feds. CTFC (Feds) 11, Caius 1.

Everybody needs good neighbours!

It's been a good week all in all. On Saturday I went with the St A cru up to Coventry for Timmy's commissioning. It was a great service and I saw so many friends from previous years, it was all very exciting. As it turned out, after the service we all went to the pub and some of the guys from Luton were also there, it was quite surreal being with the St A people and then looking over at the group that I could have been with. Nothing against the Luton people, but I was extremely happy to be with the St A's. They really are a real blessing to me. I do feel part of the group now - so much so that one of them told me he moved me from "friends" on msn to "close mates". well happy! bo!

Football is tiring still to be honest. Have just played with the City Church guys (scored a nice goal), and I've got a game for The Feds (Ridley) in the afternoon tomorrow, then training the day after and a full game on saturday. I took a knock to my shin tonight, but it should be all good.

How flippin awesome has Neighbours been recently?! 20th anniversairy stuff has been so cleverly done to bring back old faces. we were watching monday and tuesdays episodes at college with about 10 CYMers, and we all screamed each time someone we loved came on. I honestly cannot wait for each days episodes now. thats what its all about!! SO here's to you Bill Kennedy, Doug Willis and especially Lance Wilkinson! COME ON!

God's Promises

I've been thinking recently "does God change his promises?" - that may seem like a simple answer to some of you. It's not like God is all of a sudden going to say... "hey guys, I've changed my mind about never flooding the earth again, here's some armbands - good luck!!". That of course refers to God's promise after flooding the earth when Noah and his cru built a kick ass boat to survive. He (God) hasn't flooded the whole earth since and I fully believe that he won't. I've had promises made to me by God, or at least I think I have. God promised me that I'd be on CYM, he promised me that I'd go to Luton - something I hated the idea of. He's also promised me other stuff which involves other people or involves future possible working opportunities. Both of which would be unfair to go into on here. One of those though seems to have been taken away. The fulfillment of the promise will not happen. There's a few answers to how that this can be...

1. God changed his mind - already proved that one wrong me thinks!
2. I misheard God - that could well be true, G speaks loud enough for anyone to hear, I just didnt open my ears perhaps. Maybe that's what it was.
3. The promise was a two way thing, which I broke by messing up - again, that could be true. I certainly have let God down, but would that be enough to break a promise? Surely grace would help there? And as long as I'm sorry - which I flippin am!
4. The promise still exists, I'm just ignoring it or don't believe it can happen - hmmm, maybe.

Your thoughts please... (not necessarily on the comments page, maybe an email, or phone or coffee or a meal, if you pay)

What If?

Small question, but a pain in the ass to answer! Situations arise that sometimes deserve thinking, but dont get thought about, but they are key to your life, but you dont realise until its too late. Why not just tell me that its important when im thinking about it??!! Meh! Sometimes I don't understand.

All that won't make much sense to most of you - and too much sense to others.

Guanabana

I went to a newsagents down Hatfield Road in St A the other day to get some OJ before going to Uni and was delighted to see that Guanabana (the canned goodness) was available. So I decided to buy that instead of OJ. Shocking to some of you, I know.

Football Update

Played shockingly last night in the kick around with City, scored once but then went in goal for 20 minutes as I was feeling the effects of so much footy!

Football Football Football

^ Thats probably turned a lot of you away from this blog already! But tough. I'm playing football far more than I have since about four years ago. And it feels great! Obviously I play and manage Young Life Hertford. It's my youth work placement and it involves joining in with training on a Thursday (one hour) and then taking some part in the game every Saturday (averaging at about 60 minutes). That's more than most people play in a week to be honest. But since four weeks ago a lot of guys from City Church (plus a coupla tag alongs - Gizmo :P) have been renting a pitch at Hatfield on the new generation artificial pitches. They are top quality pitches and the games are really competitive but also friendly cos we know each other! It's great. Because it's 5-a-side for one hour it means that we get tired, very quickly. So thats a lot of football, but then the opportunity arose for me to play for college. Well, The Feds, an almagamation of different theology courses that play in the Cambridge University League. But basically its Ridley Hall FC. I had trials and got and had my debut on Wednesday playing as a striker and i scored two goals in a 6-4 defeat. Very happy debut for me! So there we go, four times a week now! I've getting fitter and thinner. Bonus.

Luton - end of an era!

It's over. 3 years in the Luton and now I'm gone. I loved it, I've grown physically, spiritually and emotional and mentally. Best 3 years of my life. But now it's time for the new generation to pick up from the Witts, Farmerys, Steelles, Masons, Hewitts and Armstrongs of Luton. Its time for the new lot to love the City of God like we have. Keep praying for the place. It is an amazing and beautiful town that has so much potential for God.

A new era

Now I'm living in Hatfield. A great new house near the Galleria and Uni. Only 30 minutes from work, 10 mins from St A and 5 mins from church. It's all gravy baby!

Guanabana

Love it

(Footnote: This post was 3 times as long, but then it deleted itself!)
