My Washing Machine

The dishwasher is wonderful, lovely in fact!!

But that appliance has not been the problem. The problem has been with the washing machine. It had been doing the job required since I'd moved in but a week ago it stopped twice during a cycle and i had to move the dial on myself in order for it to finish and both times it didnt take the fabric conditioner. Rather frustrating as even though the clothes are washed they dont smell fresh. quite annoying. so then i woke up in the morning to find the washing machine had a pool of water in the bottom of it so i put it on a drain cycle and it emptied. at the time i thought this would be linked to the incomplete cycle. i then went away to uni for 2 days and returned to do another load of washing. i opened the door and water came gushing out so i slammed the door shut but the bathroom was flooded, quite impressive seeing as it wasnt even PLUGGED IN!!!. i got two big towels and tried to mop it up. it did kinda work, damn annoying tho. the landlord came round (nice chap) and he said that i needed to turn the water off to the washing machine each time its not being used as he reckons the water inlet valve may have eroded away so lets water in even when switched off, makes sense to me! we shall see.

the car has been painful again. u know the bollards that u can put down when not in use? they're only 2 inches off the floor or so! well i was reversing over one at STEP with 3 others in the car and somehow the bottom of the car hit it and the exhaust has detached slightly and now rattles. its going to the garage tomorrow, not happy about that.

but its not all bad news! had an amazing week at st georges school. the sixth formers have been doing an incredible job in having a missions week which means STEP are leading EVERY RE lesson that week, got full control of the chapel, leading all assemblies, lunch time workshops, follow up etc. ive been leading some lessons and doing some detached work, both of which i love! God is doing good stuff. id love to be able to just go down and hang out at lunchtimes all the time.

Spending money for good... and bad!

Surprise surprise there has been more car problems for me!! So my Ford Escort has the function where if you leave the lights on then an alarm will sound, a good idea. However, and to my cost, I found out that if you leave the side-lights on then no alarm sounds. It was raining on Thursday so I turned my sides on in order to be a good boy, but left them on. 3 hours later I went to drive to a meeting only for the battery to have died. Becks came with the jump leads but it didnt work and the car sounded dead. So I phoned the RAC (dont ever go with the AA - remember that) and the nice man came out soon after. He put the leads on and it worked straight away, maybe the connection between Becks' car and mine wasn't right, who knows. Whilst the battery was chargin the RAC man checked the rest of my car and pointed out that the inside of tyres had worn very badly, to the point that they were illegal! whoops! he said that the tracking had obviously (!) gone and that the tyres were pointing inwards. I took it down to Kwik Fit the next morning and they lived up to their name for 2 reasons. 1 because they fitted the new parts and 2 because they were quick (45 minutes in fact!). They said that the tracking was one of the worst they'd ever seen and they think it was problem damaged when that stupid man on the motorbike decided to try and sit next to me in the car without stopping either vehicle. The 2 new tyres and tracking cost me £102. But the tyres would have needed replacing soon anyway.

On the Friday I lead my first lessons in school. I was leading a lesson from a powerpoint but I needed to put the powerpoint on a memory stick in order to show it on the schools pc. So I popped next door to Argos and bought one for £10. The girl who served me was very cute and smiley. This was a nice way to start to the day. the lessons went very well and all was good. I then went back to the office to do some paperwork. I got bored and thought I'd pop next door to see if the cute one was still working. I walked in, couldnt see her and so decided to look through the magazine. However, I didnt need or want anything. So what was I going to look at?! I flicked through as I started panic that I looked like a plank. I then visualised my flat and saw the piles of dirty plates so I went to look at dishwashers so that I could dream. The problem is though is that my kitchen is very small and cannot house a dishwasher, but at least I was looking at something rather than just being in there to look at a cute girl. But then, I saw a smaller dishwasher, a tabletop dishwasher!! Amazing! There weren't any in stock so I thought Id look at online places. And there was one in stock in Comet in Hatfield, which I coincedentally was going to anyway to try and play football. I bought it. £130. I love it. So my interest in a girl resulted in me buying a Dishwasher. My next task will be to go into Argos, find out her name and name the dishwasher after her! Adios!
